I just stumbled upon your work through someone on Tumblr ("salt,sugar,sex"; [link]), and I'm quite pleased that I did. I'm a big fan of your illustrations perhaps mostly due to the innovation of your landscapes. I'm a sucker for fantasy looking lands I yearn to visit. Keep up the beautiful work.

Okay, you asked for critique, and while I'm not a premium member, I think I might be able to give some constructive criticism. Overall, the piece is well done, but too simple to be a matte painting or comic cover. A novel cover, yes, and a background, definitely. The lighting is great, the depth is great, the colors are great. The shadows give the piece a wide dynamic range, and you have touches to give scale to the piece. The important thing to convey is the feel for the environment, that it is a wet area with lush plains and a rocky sinkhole below. I think the piece could be improved by adding more detail to the foreground, and keeping the bg as it is. The level of detail currently in the piece should start to increase at the closest ziggurat. I like your work in general, and this is no exception.
