Its good, but you should try a drawn version of this that way we can see the pictures more distinctly draw in the bricks of the building and stuff like that

Your environmental paintings are wonderful, they are so much fun to look at. I like how the guy here is sort of warily exploring the ruins. He's got nice gloves :3 is that a sword he's got there?

Question for you though, how long is it taking you to make these environmental paintings?

This is one of those pictures you can actually hear... total human silence, bits of rubble shifting and settling, wind going through the cracks in the scenery. Ooh, and zombies.

*very creeped out right now* <33

This is so beautiful.

I'm thinking of painting a lot of bg's andother things too because I want to study them...

do you have some tips? And do you use references?

Hello! Sorry for the late reply! Been caught up in things
Anyway--

References were used, though in varying degrees. For example, in waterfall pic I had some pictures of waterfalls and a few b/w photos of pyramids. This one though, all the architecture is from my head (it's rather simple, really), but I had reference images out, for moods rather than for literal things.

As for tips, I suggest starting out making small thumbnails-- zoom out so that you're forced to work on a tiny canvas using a huge brush, so that you don't get caught up in tiny details. Make your abstract shapes first, and try to separate the image into three DISTINCT levels, distinct aka no ambiguous smudging and greys--simplify the whole image into just foreground, midground and background, and it goes from darkest to light respectively. And figure out what your focal point is, and see if the rest of your image serves to highlight that focal point.

Thanks for dropping by!

I wouldn't go near that house if I were him! There are zombies in there... :fear:

That is just wicked art. Do you use references for the architecture or does it all come from your head?

I have always been a fan of these speed paint type style images of scenery/places. I have never been able to pull them off myself but I must say that you seem to be doing a pretty good job.

- All three of these that you just posted have back lighting of some sort w/ really dark areas in the foreground which seems to be an effect technique for framing/composition.
