Wow, it has a real spirit of Ashley Wood in there. You asked for critique, right? I think the only thing I could say was to possibly develop the background a little bit further in the future. Other than that, it's very good!

Haha. The mouth recalls Templesmith (that's Ben Templesmith...). But only vaguely. The composition is obviously your own, and as an armchair critic, I say you've really got something going here!

I love the way the flat background almost bends around the action. As if the events taking place are perverting it.

That figure getting elbowed to the head falls through the fog of expressiveness, the lower (foreshortened) appendages obscured by the unsure. His hand grasping for nothing, or rather, something that isn't there.

The messy speed lines serve to intonate that what is happening is so intense that you're becoming feverish in creating them. Almost scaring yourself. But maybe that's just this speed painting experiment of yours? :)

Anyhow, along with your Tekkon Kinkreet stuff, this is my favorite piece of yours. But Tekkon Kinkreet is my favorite manga, and there's bound to be some bias...

I know this is a very late reply, but--
Thanks for the awesome comment! Ones like this are rare (and so yours has been sitting in my inbox for days, though I unfortunately still have not gathered up a decent response yet) :(
Anyway-- only familiar with Ben Templesmith by his name and not his works, but now I'm looking into it, and ooh-- awesome!

Ooh, lovely analysis. Though I find more humor than fear in those lines... :O But yes, I believe I was just speedpainting (and not experiencing some deeper, higher sense of feverish creation or fear), and I wanted to capture some of that hit-bam action. (That, or I was just getting really ADHD and wanting to get the picture done. =P )

And it's great to see another Tekkon fan, especially of the manga-- hardly see any of them around!

Have a nice new year!
